A message from Henry Deakin, Managing Director

Deakin & Francis was founded in 1786 and over the last 230+ years our family business has survived many major world events.

COVID-19 is changing the way we live, from shopping to socialising.  We are committed to providing you with the best possible service and at the same time, balancing this with the individual needs of our team. Many of our team are working from home and with technology, we can continue to run our business. We are resilient, practical and robust, and we will get through this situation too.

This is a rapidly changing situation and we will keep you updated. We have created this page to address your main questions. Of course, you can contact us directly with any other questions you may have and using our technology, we will respond:

  • Telephone 0121 236 7751 and we can answer in normal office hours – we are using internet (VOIP) phones or 
  • Email and we are all working remotely and can respond to your emails.

Our online store remains open for business.

All items were manufactured prior to the Corona Virus outbreak and stored in individual bags. When we receive an order, the jewellery is removed using cotton gloves and placed in its box. The pieces are not touched by hand in this process. We will ensure that the inner Deakin & Francis gift boxes are also packaged using gloves.

There will be some delays to despatch at this time. Please bear with us.

Our London store is temporarily closed

To protect our customers and staff the store is temporarily closed. Whilst we have many hygiene measures in place, including: the brass door handles being sanitised throughout the day, regular hand washing, each customer visiting the store being handed an individual sealed hospital grade anti-bacterial wipe, one on entry and another on exit, we are following Government advice to work from home.

Our bespoke service continues

During this time if you decide you’d like to organise a special piece for you or a loved one, we can still help remotely.

We can create new unique pieces for you or we can upcycle items of older or inherited jewellery that may be tucked away in a drawer or the attic. This can be organised via an online telephone call. Read more here.

Returns policy has been extended

If your jewellery item is not suitable, we have changed our 7 day returns policy to 45 days. Please check the full returns details here.

Engraving has been temporarily suspended

With COVID-19 we are unable to provide the engraving at this time. This is because our expert engravers are older, so they are not in the factory as it is too great a risk for them. Plus the other engravers we know in the Jewellery Quarter have returned to their homes. This is not a job that can be undertaken from home as it requires specialist equipment which is in our factory.

Private appointments

If you are planning a special event such as an engagement or wedding we can organise an online meeting to start the conversation. Simply email and we will be in touch to discuss further. Your special event may be delayed and this is a great opportunity to have a bespoke piece designed and created just for you.

We will get through this
