The ‘One Carrot’ Ring

When choosing a ring to accompany your grand romantic proposal, one may be mistaken in thinking that you can’t go wrong with a diamond ring. However, there are thousands of options out there and thousands that might not make your fiancé-to-be exclaim YES!
A recent survey conducted by jewellery e-tailer Diamonds Factory revealed that 36% of married women would have preferred to choose their own engagement ring and that one in six women (15%) were unhappy when they saw their ring for the first time!
Another recent report by The Telegraph suggests that temporary engagement rings are on the rise with ‘one in six women being presented with a temporary engagement ring this year alone’.
It’s not surprising as engagement rings are moving further and further away from the classic 18ct yellow gold diamond set ring. The growing trend in coloured gem stones has led to women choosing emerald, ruby and sapphire rings, and as yellow gold has become less popular, the preferred precious metal is now platinum or white gold.
Then of course there’s the challenge of finding out what size she is! Do you ask her mum or best friend? Or casually borrow a ring from her jewellery box?
If you really would rather take the easy option and present your beloved with a temporary ring, why not make it a ‘one carrot ring’?!
