So its Friday the 13th which to a lot of people is a day for avoiding stepping under ladders and saluting nearby magpies, or for the real friggatriskaidekaphobics amongst us, its a day to not leave the house at all! Do we really believe all of that superstitious nonsense? Nevertheless, I shall be braving the prospect to go for my last training session before the Great North Run on Sunday.
This is my third annual Great North Run and I’m hoping my extensive training schedule will pay off, and that I will better last years race time of 2 hours and 10 minutes! I leave for Newcastle this evening, and hope to pop along to the Newcastle Arts Centre on Saturday for a guided tour of the galleries.
I’ve always found there’s something appealing about Newcastle, its an extremely cultural and historical city, did you know it has more theatres per person than anywhere else in the UK? There’s a splendid view as you race through the city.
I believe the term often used to wish people luck before a significant event is ‘break a leg’, but on a day like today, perhaps a ‘good luck’ will suffice.
I think I will take my rabbit head cufflinks with me today, just in case!
