The Orphaned Cufflink

The cufflinks in question were a favourite pair of mine from a few years back. I believe they had been a birthday present from a relative. They were 18ct yellow gold, with a hand-painted rock crystal covering and went brilliantly with one of my gold watches.
After spending much of the dinner lamenting about my lost cufflink, I finally conceded to giving its remaining partner away to my nephew. Who, being only young, believed he was getting the most valuable of treasures. I didn’t have the heart to tell him you couldn’t wear only the one cufflink and I left him eagerly showing off his new accessory to anyone who would listen.
I’ve still no idea where its lost brother could be, but fortunately I have plenty of other wonderful cufflinks to accompany my outfits. However I will be considerably more careful with these ones and I have devised a guide to avoid the most common cufflink accidents. Many of which I admit I have been guilty of myself;
1. Don’t drop your shirt (with cufflinks) onto a marble floor- they will get scratched!
2. Don’t wear your cufflinks and dive into the sea or a pool- you could be in deep water.
3. Don’t drive over them in the Aston- there are limits!
4. Don’t spray aftershave directly onto your cufflinks- this could tarnish their appearance.
