A Car fit for a Cufflink
It’s about that time when I start looking for a new car. A car that can fit in to all aspects of my busy day to day life but also isn’t afraid to unleash its wild side every now and again. My current car and I have had a spectacular time together but I feel we’ve out grown each other. I need something newer, shinier and more of a babe magnet.
I’ve considered all of the options. From sensible business cars suitable for your everyday executive. The fuel-efficient, 5-door saloon type, as my father drives. To the more recklessly delightful Gallardo’s, Aston’s, 911’s and other magnificent cars that I seem only able to justify buying in my mind.
A recent test drive in the Porsche 911 Carerra GT3, my car of choice, left me breaking speed limits and feeling like a teenager who’s just been given the keys to his new car, whilst my girlfriend stood at the side of the road shaking her head and asking if we could look at more ‘sensible’ cars.
It seemed impossible that I’d find the right car. A car that would allow me to maintain the image of the professional businessman to all intents and purposes, whilst at the same time reminding me that I haven’t yet turned into my father.
That is until I saw the new Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe. Modelled in the style of the traditional two-door, four-seat convertibles, it is everything you would want from a Roller. And more.
It has its very own Asprey jewellery case that is designed to fit into the glove compartment. It holds rings, earrings and, most importantly in my line of work, cufflinks!
Not only that, it also has its own unique luggage set, made to fit neatly into the picnic boot and crafted out of leather. The set is also colour coordinated with the body of the car and is navy blue. The importance of which is not to be underestimated, especially when convincing my girlfriend that this is the perfect car.
The engine is also a 6.75 litre V12, which means that the car answers perfectly to my specification of being ‘new, fast and exciting’. What more could I ask for?
