A Coat of Arms

Congratulations to the Middleton family on receiving their Coat of Arms.

The Deakin family was awarded a Coat of Arms a few years earlier. In fact it was 1563 and another Elizabeth was Queen of England.
It is said in gratitude for services against the French, the Arms were granted by William Flowers, Norroy King of Arms, around the time of the Religious Wars when in 1562, French Huguenots turned control of Le Havre over to the English who were finally driven out of Le Havre in 1563.
Tales handed down the family across generations tell of heroic feats by Arthur Dakeyne, from whom we are descended, helping the Royal Family in a rising tide.
